Description : Cosmonautics Day. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The Angara-A5 launch vehicle was successfully launched from the Vostochny launch site on April 11, 2024.
The Angara rocket program was launched in 1994 to provide Russia with a modular launch vehicle capable of placing small, medium, and large payloads into low Earth or geostationary orbits. The primary objective of this new launcher was to eliminate reliance on other countries for manufacturing, as the majority of rocket and engine production facilities had been located in Ukraine and Kazakhstan at the time of the USSR’s collapse.
