Beskrivning : Intercosmos 1 was designed to study solar ultraviolet and x-ray radiation and the effects of these types of radiation on the structure of the earth`s upper atmosphere. This spacecraft, a cooperative effort, carried instruments supplied by the German Democratic Republic, the U.S.S.R., and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Scientists from the People`s Republic of Bulgaria, the Hungarian People`s Republic, the Polish People`s Republic, and the Socialist Republic of Romania participated in the receipt and interpretation of data.
