On September 25, 2016 from Space Center Satish Dhawan PSLV C35 successfully orbit SCATSAT-1 and 7 co-passengers.
SCATSAT-1 is a meteorological satellite designed to take over from Oceansat-2. SCATSAT-1 is built by ISRO on an IMS2 platform with a payload including a Ku-band scatterom which is an upgraded version of the Oceansat-2 launched in 2009. A launch weight of 377 kg, a power Electric power of 750W and a lifetime of 5 years.
SCATSAT-1 is placed on a sun-synchronous polar orbit at 720 km altitude to provide weather forecasting, detect and track cyclones.
ALSAT-1B is an optical observation satellite developed for Algeria within the framework of a cooperation between SSTL and ASAL (Agence Spatiale Algérienne). The design is done by SSTL and the realization is done in cooperation with in particular the phase of AIT carried out in Algeria. On this occasion, ASAL teams are trained by SSTL.
