Descrizione : Baykonur post stamp and Progress M39. Progress M-39 was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz-U rocket. It docked with and delivered goods to the Mir space station at 23:50 UT on May 17, 1998 and delivered 1,500 kg of fuel and another 1,500 kg of food, equipment and gifts. In late June, Progress M-39 will give a jerk to to Mir to initiate progressively lower orbits, leading to its demise in the ocean in December 1999.
