TL 1 will be used to support real-time communications between orbiting satellites and ground control stations. This system will replace the current network of ground-based space tracking and telemetry stations and space tracking ships.
Experimental first generation of this new network. Later satellites will be of more advanced larger design.
Tian Lian-1A, launched on 25 April 2008, is positioned at 77° East. The second satellite, Tian Lian-1B was launched on 11 July 2011 and is positioned at 176.77° East. On 25 July 2012 Tian Lian-1C China completed global coverage for its tracking and data relay system. Keyword(s) :
