autographe?: non - noneDescrizione : OPS-SAT is a 3U CubeSat for the European Space Operations Center (ESOC) of the European Space Agency (ESA) that will test and demonstrate in orbit experimental and innovative software that can be used in future missions and programs of the ESA.
The objective of OPS-SAT is the experimentation of on-board and ground-based software by providing a safe and reconfigurable environment for the execution of software experiments relevant to the future operational needs of the ESA mission. The platform will allow ESOC experimenters to modify every aspect of on-board software in the same way that one installs and modifies operating systems and applications on a home PC. That means experiences that aren`t even imagined at launch can fly. The platform will allow normal terrestrial software (e.g. LINUX and Java) to be driven using much more powerful processors than currently driven.
To enable a rapid and cost-effective development cycle, OPS-SAT will be equipped primarily with off-the-shelf commercial components such as the 3-axis attitude control system, deployable fixed solar panels, GPS receiver and tracking system. UHF communications. However, it will also incorporate state-of-the-art components such as a fully CCSDS/PUS compliant S-band chain with four times the uplink throughput of any other ESA spacecraft and a miniaturized X-band providing up to 50 Downlink Mbps.
